We ARE saved by GRACE, even after all we can do.
Below is scriptural evidence, that shows that we can only do good through Christ’s grace, and that even as we do so, it still is never enough for salvation. Howbeit, it is still required for us to do good, and improve to be more like Christ every day.
For as we repent, and become better through Him, He gives us the power to change. And after having done so, then at the judgemental bar, the most often misunderstood quote in the church, which says that, “We are saved by grace, after all we can do,” really takes place. [See below scripture D&C 45:3-5].
Otherwise, without this understanding, many have thought that they had to earn the graces of God, before He would help them, which is simply not a true doctrine, and a very spiritually harmful false belief.
Doctrine & Covenants 45:3-5 reads:
3 Listen to him who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him—
4 Saying: Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;
5 Wherefore, Father, spare these my brethren that believe on my name, that they may come unto me and have everlasting life.
Such beautiful scripture. I’m glad I highlighted it in my notes.
